Now Boarding: Zink Steamship Bags

It’s no surprise I stopped in my tracks when I came face to face with the collection of Zink “Steamship” handbags at Skiffington’s in Portsmouth. The signature bold colors, clean lines, fine fabric, classic shape and craftsmanship—all completely covetable…
There’s a reason for the rich hues: the company’s founder partnered with a small, artisan cooperative in Thailand that fashions the hand-woven indigos, natural-dyed greens (made from Mango bark and Cassia leaves), yellows (from Turmeric and Jack fruit wood),reds (from Sappan wood and Lac0, browns (from Coconut bark and Raintree), grays (from Malayan olives) and black from Ebony wood. (it almost reads as a list of ingredients).
Priced in the same ballpark as similar luxury bags (the ones at Skiffington’s are $350 to $385, and on sale right now up to 30% off), Zink bags are a reminder that classic and casual aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive.
