The wet weather of late has certainly been less than ideal, and after spending yesterday in and out of court sideseats at the Campbell’s Tennis Hall of Fame Championships due to sporadic downpours and a forecast of another day of sun and storms, here’s a quick guide to hot spots along the casino block to check out while waiting for play to resume:
The Linen Shop (196 Bellevue): An icon of Bellevue Avenue, expect much more than fine towels and sheets at this charming spot, though pieces from Jacaranda Living, Pomegranate, LuLu DK Matouk are showstoppers. Embroidered boudoir pillows, spa and bath accessories, colorful placemats and tablecloths, home accessories, children’s gifts and more are tucked throughout the store. The displays alone are worth the visit!
Laura Jean (198 Bellevue): Just when you thought Bellevue Avenue was only about tony Gilded Age living, Laura Jean comes along and ups the cool factor. It’s dude-ranch-meets-Manhattan décor is instantly warming and inventory is ever-changing, including new designs from Citizens of Humanity, Frye, Joe’s Jeans, Paige Premium Denim, Michael Stars and Splendid & Finley. Personal attention from experienced staff ensures the right fit every time.
Michael Hayes and Michael Hayes For Kids (202-204 Bellevue): Carries fashion heavy hitters for men (upstairs) and women including Tory Burch, Missoni, Sue Wong and Diane von Furstenberg in addition to a slew of European brands.
Other gems on the casino block include national women’s retailer Talbots, gifts and accessories at Wellspring, handcrafted furniture heirlooms from Adriance Furniture makers and nationally renowned Roger King Gallery of Fine Arts.
