Today we celebrate the autumnal equinox and what better way to welcome the fall than surrounded by the crème de la crème of the culinary world and fine wines from around the globe? The 4th Annual Newport Mansions Wine and Food Festival kicks off Friday (Sept. 25th) welcoming a weekend of non-stop gourmet indulgence. Highlights include:
• Grand Tastings on Saturday (9/26) and Sunday (9/27) featuring more than 150 wine samples from more than 150 producers, food samples from nearly two dozen restaurants and caterers and live cooking demonstrations
• Celebrity Chef Demonstrations featuring Chef Jacques Pépin, Chef Joanne Weir, Chef David Burke and other culinary experts, plus an appearance by Ray Isle, Wine Editor of Food & Wine magazine and a special wine presentation by “Dr. Vino” Tyler Colman
• Sunday Jazz Brunch on the terrace of Marble House
• “A Vintage Evening at The Breakers” Gala Celebration featuring a collectible wine auction with auction services provided by Christie’s (NYC)
If you just want to get into the spirit of things without the festival, visit The Wine Cellar directly across from the Hotel Viking. The cozy, specialty wine shop features high quality, small production, hand crafted wines carefully chosen by the owners for each distinct palate.
