After enjoying a delectable lunch at Bristol Redlefsen’s during Restaurant Week, I couldn’t help but notice the engaging window displays at nearby Jackie’s Loft at the corner of Franklin and Thames streets. It had been nearly a year since I’d been in the cozy but fashionable boutique, and when I stopped in, I couldn’t imagine why it had been so long, because the place is chock full of pieces from fabulous designers ranging from casual to cocktail and at all different price points. Soft, cashmere spring sweaters and wraps, casual tops, chic cocktail dresses, jewel-encrusted tunics, resort wear, a few pieces of premium denim, skirts, and great sale items pepper the shop, oh, and the accessories- oh the accessories- most that look much more expensive than their $40-$60 price tag.
The above cocktail dress by Basix Black Label (Jackie’s Loft is the only shop carrying Basix in Rhode Island), very Oscar de la Renta-inspired with its intricate pleating, immediately caught my eye in a rich shade of navy blue–perfect for a Newport or Bristol wedding, evening event or night out on the town.
I was also delighted to find a number of Yoana Baraschi dresses, which, if you’re familiar with the Romanian designer pieces, you know they are fashion forward, well-tailored and deceptively comfortable. The colorful one-should caftan pictured here is one of those dresses that may not wow you on the hanger, but when you try it on, it’s unquestionably phenomenal.
With 3-5 deliveries a week, inventory at Jackie’s Loft is always changing and tends to reflect the current season. With summer around the corner, I was drawn to the soft and snuggly terrycloth cover-ups by PJ Salvage that were very Tory Burch-like with a sophisticated print, plunging V-neckline and gold ring accent.
Jackie’s Loft is located at 448 Thames Street in Bristol, (401) 254-4251
