This weekend’s 22nd Annual Stop & Shop Tastes of Rhode Island (Saturday, October 2nd from noon – 10 p.m. and Sunday, October 3rd from noon – 6 p.m.), is a toast to all the flavors of the Ocean State. The “Rhode Island Shore Dinner Hall” will serve up classics including creamy clam chowders, crisp clam cakes, succulent lobster rolls and savory steamers and stuffies, while its “Rhody Restaurant Row” will celebrate various ethnic eats by selling cocktail snack-sized portions of our most eclectic cuisine (so bring some cashola). The “R.I.B.S. – Rhode Island Barbeque Spectacular,” an extensive raw bar with fresh native shellfish courtesy of the fabulous Matunuck Oyster Bar, oyster shucking and slurping contests, and the always entertaining Sam Adams Annual Beer Shucking Contest, will round out the festivities.
Look for cooking demos to learn how to whip up local dishes, and parents of little ones should keep an eye out for the kidSTOPs, where children can enjoy games, crafts, and fun acts. Once the little ones are all tucked in though, the grown ups should check out Saturday night’s “ROCK the DOCKS” party featuring the WANDAS. (See full line up of bands after the jump.)
Tickets are $10 for adults and free for kids under 12 (accompanied by an adult). New this year is a 2-Day Weekender Pass for $14.00. The event sells $1 tokens to be used to purchase “bites” of Rhody classics. Tickets can be ordered on-line by CLICKING HERE. For Saturday’s live music line-up, click the MORE link below…
