Someone one once told me there are more than 75 salons on Aquidneck Island, and while I’m not going to pull out the ‘ol phone book and count ’em one by one, I’m inclined to believe it. Truth is, there’s a lot of great talent–stylists, colorists, nail technicians, estheticians–packed into this corner of the world, and in the past few weeks, there have been a number of relocations and new salons to open their doors. Here’s a round up:
RaNew Salon celebrates its Grand Opening today at 580 Thames Street in Newport in Wellington Square. The salon is 
led by a handful of staff formerly of Ki-Ra Salon (which remains open at 6 West Marlborough Street) including Rachael Prendergast, Christine Giacobbi, Bethany Kraft, Bethany Cano, Laura Philbrick, Alejandra Cornejo and Samantha Smaldone. 619-4848, ranewsalon@aol.com

I visited D’Ann Scott at WaveLengths for a hair cut the other week and the new location is beautiful!!! They did a great job of renovating that space–congrats!
