17 Days of Hometown Holidays and Christmas in Newport – Welcome December!

December 1, 2010 at 12:25 pm 1 comment

Today is the official launch of our 17 Days of Hometown Holidays promotion. Every day we’ll be featuring gift ideas from a local shop, many of which are also locally made. On Dec. 17th, once lucky shopper will win a $1,000 American Express gift card (for details on how to enter and qualify CLICK HERE).

Our first day of Hometown Holidays we’re featuring the 2010 Holly Snowflake by J.H. Breakell & Co. The jewelry company, a venerable Newport favotie since opening in 1972, creates an original snowflake design each year in sterling silver or 14K gold, available in ornaments, pins, earrings and pendants (sterling pendant shown here, $35.00).

Also, Christmas in Newport kicks off tonight, celebrating its 40th year, at 6 p.m. in Washington Square with fanfare that includes an official proclamation from the Mayor, tree lighting, a Newport Artillery cannon salute (little ones, cover your ears!), live entertainment and if it gets a little too chilly, pop in the Newport Colony House open house to warm your bones! For a complete line up of Christmas in Newport activities, CLICK HERE.
