Ahh, the ubiquitous resolutions to shed some lbs, to get fit and fabulous…they are in full swing right about now (at least judging from the exponential uptick of traffic at the gym this week). Whether your goal is to go all out and conquer that marathon, to simply increase your fitness level, or to find some body and mind health via yoga and Pilates, there’s a lot of great products around town to get you on your way.
At Potter & Co. you’ll find Prana, a soft, stretchy line well-known by yoga enthusiasts (I wrote about them a few months ago HERE), including sport tops, plus LOLË tanks and other activewear. Guys looking to shape up can stock up on cotton shirts, jackets for that Cliff Walk run, and thermal pants. Best part? Potter is having a super sale now through Saturday is advance of their store renovation (they’ll be closed through March) and all inventory on sale up to50% off!
Active Sole on Bowen’s Wharf is the largest PUMA dealer in the state; not surprising considering sailing sensation Il Mastro, sponsored by PUMA, calls Newport. I love the PUMA gym bags (and the smaller tote which can double has a handbag for the ladies), plus you’ll find well made PUMA hoodies, and for the those who like to be seen more than sweating at the gym, velour hoodies with matching warm-up pants. Insider’s Tip: Check out the second floor where you’ll find an array of items on sale year-round.
Patagonia on Thames has great active mesh sports bras for women that are body-hugging, seamless and supportive (and just $35). Yoga and Pilates enthusiasts should check out the undercover cami, a stretchy camisole with a 360-degree shelf bra and study straps. And The Boardroom at Casino Terrace has super soft stretch skirts by surf-inspired Carve Designs and great Hard Tail cotton stretch pants in different style. Happy, healthy 2011!
