All eyes are on the sky today as we’re patiently waiting for the snow, but as the cold stuff makes its way here, there are so many places to keep us warm. The Fifth Element, fresh off their grand re-opening celebration last week (cheers, guys!), has some great small plates in addition to their full menu, where you can find savory comfort food, plus some nice wines by the glass (and bottle…). Many Newporters have already checked out their industrial-meets-modern digs at 111 Broadway, and if you haven’t, a snowstorm is the perfect excuse.
If you’re looking to get out of the house but stay in town, the Jane Pickens has plenty of showtimes listed for their current feature, Black Swan, or maybe checking out The Bit Players comedy improv show at the Firehouse Theater is more your style (Friday or Saturday night). By the time Saturday’s NFL playoff games get underway, we’ll see just how much of the white stuff we’re dealing with. Chances are it’ll be easy enough to trudge through to make it to the huge moving sale Jason & Co. is having—20-50% storewide (excluding Pandora)–before they make their way from Brick Market Place’s Goddard Row (back row) to 182 Thames Street (former home to Prep Cosmetics). While he carries some beautiful housewares including coastal-themed serving platters, wine bottle stoppers and tablewear, Jason’s exquisite but affordable selection of jewelry, including Crislu, takes center stage–blame it on the bling. Bundle up!!!
I have to thank you for the The Fifth Element suggestion– it was fantastic!
That’s great hear Megan! I love the new decor there too– modern but relaxing…
