Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic ode to the must-have stiletto, “Hello, lover!” has become part of the footwear aficionado’s vernacular, which would explain why the phrase slipped out when I set my eyes on these beauties at Active Sole on Newport’s Bowen’s Wharf. The leather Lauren by Ralph Lauren, “Fantara” sandal, with its sexy ankle strap and straw-wrapped, natural-hued platform, boasting a 4.7″ heel, is positively, drool-worthy (also available in all black). There were also some gorgeous Ralph Lauren flats, and for the more casual day on the town, I loved the totally preppy 
madras and crisp white Lacoste sneaks, which were also in both pink and black slip-ons. For an easy, breezy, nearly indestructible shoe, check out the selection of OKA b. (at right) slides and sandals. They’re 100% recyclable, waterproof, made in the USA and priced under $40, plus they each have massage beads embedded on the soles for added comfort.
Oh wait, you think I forgot about the boys? Of course not. How could I when I saw the positively kick-ass Sebago Docksides, high-top boat shoes that owner Stephen Coyne described as the lovechild between the classic Converse high top and unapologetic Doc Marten. Although they look totally sweet, don’t be fooled. These babies feature a slip-resistant sole that helps maintain solid footing whether on deck or land (pictured here in “firecracker red”). These, plus the great Puma gear, Levi’s (the coveted Made & Crafted line), Roar clothing and forthcoming Bensimon pieces will complete the men’s wardrobe.
