Last summer, I sat down at 22 Bowen’s with a writer from Sweden who was researching Newport while in the city for the Spring/Summer 2011 GANT catalog shoot. Over a pair of their signature Stoli Dolis, we talked about Newport’s style being a blend of preppy but not pretentious, casual but polished, nautically influenced, the ubiquitous blue blazer, and finally, what “Nantucket reds” are. He had already met with other folks around Newport to learn more about our history, and ultimately, how Newport exemplifies the GANT lifestyle. Just a few weeks ago, I received the Spring/Summer 2011 GANT catalog where “Docking in Newport” makes for a stunning section, and familiar settings include the Clarke Cooke House, Newport Harbor, the stunning 12-meter Northern Light, and Castle Hill Inn & Resort. The catalog can be hard to come by, but watch the video above to see the pages come to life.
