When SeaFair sailed into Newport recently, she was hard to miss. The 228-foot privately owned mega-yacht, like a number of Newporters themselves, will be summering in the City-by-the-Sea, soaking up the spoils of our warmest months from Perry Mill Wharf. I was able to take an up close look at this open to the public behemoth, a multi-level floating art gallery with works from artists and artisans around the globe, and it’s an intriguing attraction. Wining and dining aboard include Saporé (see menu here)–a glass-walled gourmet restaurant, a sky deck bar (Bar360) and bistro (Bistro360) with panoramic Newport Harbor views (check out the picture at the bottom of the post), especially at sunset, and an open-air champagne/caviar lounge (Luxe Lounge). Considering SeaFair is the fourth largest privately owned yacht in the country (it cost $40 million to build) it’s certainly a sight to behold, both from shore and on board. “Art Newport,” as the event is being dubbed, is tentatively scheduled to be in Newport through September 5.
