The (Maybe Not So) New “It” Bag: JPK Paris

“I just got a JPK bag!” my friend squealed recently. “A what bag?” I asked. “A JPK, from like, Paris.” I had no idea what she was talking about until she showed me with glee. The simple bucket satchel with chunky, shiny gold hardware engraved with the “JPK Paris 75” signature logo was beautiful, simple, and functionally elegant. It reminded me of some Michael Kors bags, but definitely with their own distinct identity. Ever since, I’ve been spotting them on fashionable shoulders everywhere, including here in Newport. If you love Longchamp and Hervé Chapelier, you’ll love JPK.
To no surprise, JPK Paris 75 bags are available online and in better department stores including Nordstrom, Saks and Macy’s, but I just stumbled upon a JPK jackpot at Island Pursuit on Thames Street. There they were: shelves lined with purple, lavender, fuchsia, olive, cream, red, black, brown and navy bags—all in high density ballistic nylon or cotton canvas, and most were at the $165 price point.
Typically bucket bags can be black holes where searching for your wallet, lip gloss or cell phone can be an Olympic sport, but the JPK bucket includes two zipper pockets, two pockets with magnetic closures and two cell phone pockets. Want a preview of the Fall ’11 line? Click here!
