Rob Base DJ E Z Rock had it right—it does take two to make it outta sight. When I heard Francesca Joy and Oliveira Textiles were teaming up, two ambitious, successful women-run companies for a trunk show today, it made perfect sense. Even better, you’re invited!
I’ve featured hot young designer Elise Fargnoli and her Francesca Joy line of stunning, hand-painted totes, wristlets and chemises here on Newport Stylephile before. She continues to grow her product line while hand-painting stunning visuals on each of her pieces. Over in Bristol meanwhile, sisters Dawn Oliveira (who spent years creating fashion and home textiles for leading designer lines including Polo Ralph Lauren and Dana Buchman) and Deborah Olson at the helm of Oliveira Textiles, a company that
crafts fabrics for the home using only sustainable and organic fabrics including hemp and organic cotton. More recently, the company has ventured into creating clothing and accessories with the same ethos, including organic cotton t-shirts, belts, hats, purses and pillows (click here to view).
The two companies, both of whom create with inspiration from the sea, have partnered to create a clothing line. Today’s trunk show, located at the private home “Southways” just off Bellevue Avenue and hosted by owner Eliza Williams and designer/artist Elise Fargnoli, will feature the Oliveira Textiles fashion and accessory line while debuting their collection of tunics and shorts (as seen at top). A diverse array of Francesca Joy totes, as seen in Newport’s Chace N’Lulu will be available as well.
The trunk show will run from 10am to 5pm today at Southways, located at 15 Clay Street in Newport (401-846-6466).
Andrea, thank you so much for this wonderful post. And short notice too!. I’m so glad Kara DiCamillo contacted you. Hope to meet you this summer. Regards, Dawn Oliveira & Elise Francesca
