It’s seemingly impossible to not be in a fashion state of mind these days, what with StyleWeek Providence unfolding at PPAC in the Capital City this week, New York Fashion Week around the corner, the new fall lines making their way to shop shelves and the promise of soft sweaters and gentle layering in the not too distant future (but hopefully not too soon…). No thanks to Mean Irene, no StyleWeek shows on Monday night for me, but photographer Todd Lee captured the runway styles of designers Maria Del Carmen Mercado, Samuel Vartan, Kara Wickman, and Denise Hajjar, and posted images on his Tumblr, check it out here.
This year, local retailers are joining the ever-growing movement of Fashion Night Out, an ever growing after-hours global shopping extravaganza from Manhattan to Milan that is a registered trademark event taking place this year on September 8, 2011. Locally, J.McLaughlin is toasting Fashion Night Out (6pm—11pm) with an evening of fashion, cocktails and complimentary gifts. Similar fetes will be found at official FNO retailers throughout Southern New England. And, Brahmin’s official Fashion Night Out Tote is available at the Brahmin shop on Bannister’s Wharf. It’s $50, comes in three different styles, is limited edition (seriously, it usually sells out), and a portion of the proceeds benefit the New York City AIDS Fund.
