Seasonal changes mean more than just flipping the closet, it’s also about changing the color palette. Sara Schlieff-Ross of ArchBeauty in Newport knows this more than anyone, and has her finger on the pulse when it comes to the newest beauty products and terrific trends. She says the season is all about liquid liner and lushes lashes with just a hint of bare shimmer on the lid. “What I love about this trend is that it opens the door for bright and bold lip colors…which always dress you up!” she says. Here are some of her picks to get the look (without breaking the bank):
L’oreal Voluminous carbon black mascara. “It doesn’t clump and makes any lash look full and thick,” Sara says. Available at local drugstores for about $6
Urban Decay liquid liner. “What I love about this is all their amazing different colors. From purples to greens, it can spice up any look,” she explains. Another tip: Remember the eyelid look this season is a bare shimmer color, and liquid liners create so many different looks. “They’re super easy to use and they last without running.” Available at local drugstores for about $7-$8
Photo finish Lid Primer by Smashbox. “It’s a lid primer that you can use alone with a liquid liner and a touch of mascara, that is my current day look,” Sara says. “I love it; it’s quick, easy and looks put together. I could not be happier that this trend is following me in the fall!”
Available at ArchBeauty for $20
NARS lipstick, shade: Funny Face. Sara’s “must have lipstick color” can be worn year round it and adds a pop to any look. “I have to warn you,” she cautions, “You will be noticed when walking into a room.” This is the signature lip color featured in J. Crew’s fall catalog, and Sara says another benefit is it works with most lip glosses. “Such a bonus considering most women have a handful in their pocketbooks.” Nars.com, Sephora and select department stores, $24
