Newport is synonymous with nautical style. It’s a place where threadbare Sperrys are worn with a certain swagger and fashion and function aren’t mutually exclusive. While French sailor boatnecks are ubiquitous and anchor icons are emblazoned on everything from blazers to belt buckles, the simple nautical stripe endures (see Brigitte Bardot above, and Coco Chanel, pictured below ca. 1930).
