Thursday evening, fashion goes to the dogs at the fourth annual Canine Couture fashion show at Doris Duke’s Rough Point on Bellevue Avenue. With this year’s theme inspired by the mansion’s 2012 exhibit, Passport to the World: Doris Duke the International Traveler, the four-legged fashionistas will have global roots while their owners don chic looks from area boutiques.
I’m really excited to be a part of the show this year and to be wearing an extraordinary designer (hint: all her work is made in the USA), but make no bones about it: the bow wow beauties are the true stars of the show. I’m also thrilled that a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Potter League for Animals. Also, learn about international dog breeds, see a dog training demo, and enter to win a Bellevue Avenue shopping spree—all while enjoying libations by The Cocktail Guru himself, Jonathan Pogash.
Doors open at 5pm, show begins at 6pm. Tickets are$10 per person, free for children 5 and younger (purchase all tickets at the door). On-site parking is limited; carpooling and biking encouraged. Canine guests are welcome but must be on a leash. Rough Point is located at 680 Bellevue Avenue. Sponsored by Wag Nation, a Newport boutique for pets.
