In 2007, family services provider Child & Family asked how they could merge fashion and philanthropy, unveiling Ophelia’s Wardrobe, an upscale designer sale with music and cocktails, all for a good cause. The event has morphed into Au Courant, what many call the biggest fashion event of the season and the best $125 ticket in town.
This year the event falls on the night of Friday, June 26, and through the collaborative efforts of Child & Family and StyleWeek Northeast, Au Courant will showcase extraordinary creative talents of six of the finest designers in the region. It all unfolds to ultimately make a difference in the lives of children and families throughout Rhode Island.
I’m delighted to serve on the event committee for this year’s Au Courant which will kick off with a lavish cocktail party catered by Pranzi Catering & Events that includes an open bar, specialty bars and hors d’oeuvres. There’s also an amazing live and silent auction (we’re talking extraordinary experiences, like the lunch with Tim Gunn I let slip through my fingers!). Guests will then be called to the runway tent and be treated to an awe-inspiring runway show by:
Jonathan Joseph Peters / Jessica Abernathy / Artiss Akarra / Antwan Byrd / Robert Merton / Amy Stetkiewicz
Apres fashion fun: more cocktails, music and dancing–plus shopping designer fashion. Most importantly, the entire elegant evening benefits Child & Family, the largest and most comprehensive social service provider in Newport County, and one of the largest in the State of Rhode Island.
Fashion, philanthropy, fabulous fashion, fine wine? Sure sounds like the hottest ticket in town to me~
