This Thursday, the Newport community will come together in the spirit of generosity for A Night to Remember. Funds raised from this “celebration of creativity” fashion show will directly help alleviate costs of the Rogers High School prom.
From 6pm to 8pm, guest will enjoy complimentary champagne, wine, beer and soft drinks in addition to heavy hors d’oeuvres from Blackstone Caterers as they take in one of a kind formal and semi-formal dresses by Providence-based designer and StyleWeek alumna Maria Del Carmen Mercado, decked-out denim created and modeled by Rogers students (paired with New England Harbor Club tops), elegant fashions and accessories from local boutiques worn by local “celebrity” models, and duct-tape dresses designed by Rogers High School alumna Haley Pires.
Making the evening even more special, Rogers High School’s cosmetology students will assist with hair and make-up to give the models their finished look, student musicians will fill the galleries with youthful sound and culinary students will present appetizers and desserts they’ve prepared specially for the evening.
And yours truly will be assisting with emcee duties.
Again, all proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the Rogers 2016 prom fund and will ensure that a greater number of students can attend this year’s prom because it will be more affordable.
