Ooh, ooh! Bonjour, Le Cou!

I admit: I thought it quite serendipitous when the founders of Le Cou reached out to me a few months ago. It was the heart of winter and though I’ve always liked a casual but finished look for “casual Fridays” (jeans at the office is always a treat), the look could be bulky and uncomfortable if not executed correctly. The Oxford has to be slim cut and well pressed, the sweater has to to have the perfect neckline and the button down’s arms better be just the right length to cuff over the sweater. Having that fashionable trifecta at the read on a Friday morning would boil down to a stoke of dumb luck. I was reminded of the ubiquitous Peter Pan collar of my grammar school uniform jumper. It seemed so easy back then.

Enter: the dickey.

Le Cou, an up and coming line, has re-introduceed the dickey as a beautiful, practical and chic wardrobe basic. The dickey has been identified as an emerging trend, recently covered by The Ce11XOmUUAEG59e.jpgHuffington Post, The Wall Street Journal, InStyle, Elle, and Bloomberg Business. Currently, Le Cou is the only fashion-forward women’s apparel company dedicated exclusively to this category.

“The idea for the Le Cou Dickey came from our love of layering and crisp collars, coupled with the drawbacks of the bulk, bunching and overheating that often come with layered looks,” says Jessica Wingate, who co-founded Le Cou with partner Elizabeth Azen Andia. “The Le Cou Dickey is a true wardrobe hack. No waiting to find something to go with it, or until you lose 10 lbs. Our dickeys add polish to your look, maximize the wardrobe you already own, and are designed to fit the body you have right now.”

Here’s how it works:

As Le Cou’s founders Jessica and Elizabeth point out, the delightful dickies make total sense in a destination like Newport where the weather is synonymous with layering to create preppy and polished but unpretentious looks.

Today, Le Cou has design four distinct collections (The Wakefield, Olympia, Uma and Miette) in three editions. See them all by CLICKING HERE.
