I was introduced to Block Island Organics years ago when I was looking for a “clean” sunscreen — that is, a fragrance-free one without chemicals that offered broad spectrum SPF 30 UVA/UVB protection. I became a believer after using their zinc-based sunscreen which is vegan and eco-friendly (reef safe, recyclable, biodegradable — the whole nine).
Since then, Block Island Organics expanded into skin care, which made the line a perfect fit for this series since I am LOVING two specific products right now. First, the natural face moisturizer (with SPF 30) is lush with green tea antioxidants, vitamin E and pomegranate. Ultra hydrating with vitamin rich botanicals including aloe and shea butter, it deeply moisturizes and is ideal for daily protection. Like any zinc-based product, the texture is a little thick but this formula spreads easily, has a matte finish and is ideal for all day sun protection. A little goes a long way and if you look for highly rated EWG products, this has won the organization’s Best Moisturizer with SPF five years straight.
I’m also loving the purifying face cleanser made with “ Block Island’s crisp blue water and natural beauty in mind.” One little pump and the non-irritating cleanser lightly foams on the face with organic and natural ingredients including rosehip, chamomile, sunflower, avocado, olive and more botanicals to hydrate and refresh without drying skin. Packed with antioxidants vitamin C and vitamin E, it revitalizes the skin without stripping natural oils and it’s friendly to all skin types for men and women. This might be my favorite product of the Block Island Organics line (though I’ve been wanting to try the revitalizing night cream next!)
