A Day of Beauty with Farmaesthetics

In a continually-connected, digital world, it’s important to relax, unwind and unplug, even if just for a little while. This afternoon, two great brands that seemed to have mastered the philosophy of beautiful living collaborate for A Day of Beauty.

Join Brenda Brock, founder, formulator and CEO of locally-owned, globally known skin care line Farmaesthetics, and her talented team of licensed beauty experts to experience what Town & Country magazine calls “Cream of the Crop” at Castle Hill Inn from 3-5pm. Learn about the importance of truly natural skincare and the profound benefits of sustainable beauty (seriously, have you ever read the ingredients on your lotions and potions? How much of it can you pronounce?). A long-time fan of Farmaesthetics, I wrote this feature for the Winter 2010 issue of Edible Rhody magazine and really came to understand Brenda’s extraordinary approach, and I’m not alone. Farmaesthetics is used and sold in some of the best spas and resort hotels in the world, and it’s invented and created right here in our community.

Enjoy this complimentary event featuring live demos, afternoon tea, infused waters and a juice bar. Visit A Day of Beauty’s Facebook event page here and call Stephanie at Castle Hill Inn at 401-324-4508 for reservations.

Hometown Holidays: Certified Organic Skin Care

I bought a set of Farmaesthetics travel sizes last Christmas for a stocking stuffer (that was much appreciated), and when I popped in last month, I spotted this great little set that comes in a pretty little package. The Farmaesthetics Facial-to-Go ($33) includes travel-size glass bottles of Fine Herbal Cleanser (1 fl. oz), Nourishing Lavender Milk (1 fl. oz), and Sweet Milk and Lavender Buds Facial Exfoliate (1 oz). The kit is ideal for travelers, in and out of the gym, and for any Farmaesthetics first-timer to sample the cetified organic, paraben-free line that is absent of all dyes, fragrances, fillers, petroleum and talc. Facial-to-go is available at the Farmaesthetics flagship shop on Bellevue Avenue, at Green Envy Eco-Boutique in Brick Market Place and Most Naturally in Narragansett.

Shopping for an already Farmaesthetics fan? The newly introduced herbal serum Complexion Conserve ($48) restores radiance and vitality to the skin. The vitamin-filled elixir, which contains carrot seed oil, rose otto oil, soy oil and vitamin E,  is said to: accelerate the skin’s natural repair process, minimize pigmentation and inflammation, and restores elasticity to skin in need (including the dehydrated, stressed or sun-damaged). It was recently reviewed following a month-long trial on and came through with a glowing rave.

SAVINGS TIP: Shop on on and for every full size product you purchase, you will receive a FREE luxury travel size of the same product by entering promo code “Stockingstuffer” at checkout. Good through December 10th.

Pink Martini Night!

The 2nd Annul Pink Martini Night at the Hyatt Regency Newports Stillwater Spa will be Friday, October 15 from 5-8 p.m. I went to this last year and it was such a nice gathering of women of all ages indulging in a little pampering while savoring super-cute pink cocktails, all for a good cause.

For only a $20 donation, attendees will receive: a pink martini (a delicious blend of strawberry vodka, cream de cocoa, strawberry puree, Coco Lopez & Bailey’s® Irish Cream), make-up touch ups, chair massages and hand treatments, mini spa treatments by nationally known but Portsmouth-owned Farmaesthetics, and a bra fitting, plus you walk away with a goodie bag of spa samples!

A Luminary Garden Lighting Ceremony will illuminate the hotel’s Great Lawn in pink and the luminaries (bright pink candle lanterns) will be available for purchase throughout October for $5 each with all proceeds benefiting the Rhode Island chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Call Stillwater Spa at 851-3225 to reserve in advance or make your $20 donation at the door. (Oh, and attendees will be offered complimentary valet parking at the hotel … love it!)

Shop Shot: Farmaesthetics

What: The shop that happens when you cross-pollinate kitchen chemistry with natural ingredients

Where: 144 Bellevue Avenue, Newport

By the time Brenda Brock opened her flagship store in the City-by-the-Sea, Farmaesthetics already had already earned an enviable reputation among the natural cosmetics circuit. When Harper’s Bazaar is gushing about your Nourishing Lavender Milk lotion, Elle is touting your Pure Complexion Tonic with Chamomile & Rosewater toner and New Beauty is coveting your Rosehip and Clay Mint Mask, you’ve officially created “beauty buzz.”

Committed to “Sustainable Beauty®”, all Farmaesthetics products are 100% natural. Certified organic herbs, flowers, oils and grains comprise the product line that ranges from cleansers to moisturizers, salves to salt rubs.

While you can find Farmaesthetics in a host of luxury hotels, spas and inns and at national retailers, we’re proud the line is now part of our city’s fabric. With a leader in natural beauty right here in our backyard, healthy, beautiful, fresh skin makes good sense.
