More than 200 stylish ladies (and a few dapper dudes) turned out for the 15th annual Angela Moore Champagne Brunch Fashion Show held for the first time at Rosecliff. Upon entering via the red carpet, guests took in a special one-day exhibit, Newport Style, From Luxury to Every Day which featured outfits from the Preservation Society costume archives and represents how fashion has evolved through the ages. A vintage Oscar De La Renta gown wowed guests, while a vintage New York Yacht Club ensemble captured the nautical style that is a signature part of Newport tradition. Guests then proceeded to the fabulous loggia terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean for mimosas and summer drinks.
The show began with raffles generously donated by The Spa at Newport Marriott, The Preservation Society Museum Shops and autographed books from four talented Newport authors, each of whom has debuted a book this year. These ladies were invited to the stage by Angela to introduce their books: Bettie Pardee’s Living Newport, Annie Sherman’s Legendary Locals of Newport, Gail Alofsin’s Your Someday is Now and Naomi Neville’s Gracious Living.
Here’s just some of the fabulous looks (styles were shared in real time on Newport Stylephile’s Instagram and Facebook sites–are you following?)

There’s so much going on during the Newport summertime I’m only now doing a follow up post on July’s annual Angela Moore Fashion Show and Champagne Breakfast, which kicked off a weekend of festivities during the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Tournament at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
Gorgeous summer weather set the tone for a beautiful day. Angela hosted more than 250 guests, making this the largest fashion show to date held on the historic Horseshoe Piazza. Guests enjoyed breakfast and sipped champagne and strawberry kiwi bellinis provided by Russell Morin Caterers. In keeping with the show’s special look, Laurie Marshall created fabulous nautical tablescapes.Lucky guests also received raffle prizes from the Spa at Newport Marriott, Fila, Peace Love Studios and Three Islands.
A special treat included ATP tournament star and 2012 tournament player Matt Ebden as a surprise model. In sum, the show featured three different sets with over 30 models and 80 looks including fashions from Manuel Canovas, Barbara Gerwit, Tracy Negoshian, Just Madras, Jack Rogers, Angela Moore and dozens of other designers. (At top: Carolyn van Petten is wearing a Dizzy Lizzie Charleston dress accompanied by Karen Megley wearing Needles & Thread top and hooded metallic jacket with Lysee Leggings. at left: ATP tennis star Matt Ebden lets fellow model 2009 Miss Connecticut Ashley Karger take center stage wearing a gorgeous Bel Kazan Diamond long knit dress.)

As Jack Rogers loyalists know, the brand has been a consummate favorite of the fashionably unfussy for more than half a decade. It’s most famous style icon was unequivocally Jackie O, who embraced the shoe’s simple whipstitch design and quality workmanship. (There’s a long standing debate if she wore Jack Rogers or Stephen Bonanno, some say both, and each have similarities). When I caught “Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years: Selections from the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum,” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City (curated by Hamish Bowles, who was in Newport last summer), there was a fabulous photograph of Jackie in Palm Beach sporting Jack Rogers style shoes in a 1962 photo (the above photo was also taken in the early 60s), and many more shots caught her in the fabulous footwear through the years. Regardless of the debate, the Navajo style sandal is timeless and enduring.
Incidentally, The Met recently recognized Jack Rogers’ heritage by initiating the brand into the permanent collection of its prestigious Costume Institute.

Last Thursday, in the throes of the Campbell’s Tennis Hall of Fame Championships, Angela Moore hosted her 12th Annual Fashion Show & Champagne Breakfast. The buzz was already at record levels with Andre Agassi‘s and Peachy Kellmeyer‘s pending inductions, but the biggest fashion show in its history added to the high spirits.
As the bubbly flowed, unabashedly preppy and signature City-by-the-Sea looks for men, women and children strutted the runway, all reflecting the theme of this year’s show, “Summer Fashions … Newport Style!” Three sets were presented: Daytime Dazzle, Fun in the Sun and Moonlight Magic (evening wear).
The event grossed more than $30,000 in proceeds that will go towards maintaining and enhancing the International Tennis Hall of Fame, bringing the total raised through the Angela Moore fashion shows to over $250,000. Without further adieu, here’s some great shots from the show (see even more photos after the jump)!
