We might be ready to raise the winter white flag, but this season is taking no prisoners. So while the cold temperature and seemingly endless snowstorms have their way, we may as well look fabulous as events like the Newport Winter Festival remind us that every snowy cloud has a silver lining! Here’s some winter survival fashion finds that might some in handy as you head to the Ice bar at Polar Pineapples and other festive happenings! Here’s what I brought to The Rhode Show this morning (segment clip will be posted later today). Also, I’m wearing designer Jude Connally, a New Jersey based-designer whose piece are available at Michael Hayes and are made in the USA!

A leading fair trade artisan jewelry line, Faire Collection (formerly The Andean Collection) accessories are designed in New York and handcrafted by artisans in Ecuador. I wore the above Catalina necklace when Christmas shopping in downtown Newport this past Saturday afternoon. It’s made of tagua and pambil seeds, and sustainably harvested wood. One of the things I like the most about the line, besides being viable and helping third-world artisans with every purchase, is that most pieces can be worn during any season. The Catalina, for example, pairs perfectly with a simple tank in the summer or adds a pop of color when paired with a crisp white tunic.
Green Envy Eco-Boutique, located at 8 Franklin Street in Newport, carries select Faire Collection pieces. To see and shop the entire collection, or get a Faire Collection e-gift card (they make great last minute gifts), CLICK HERE.
Disclosure: Faire Collection provided be with a sample Catalina necklace to experience the texture and quality of the brand.
Even if they weren’t made here in Newport, I’d still be a fan of Lemon & Line, a charming collection of colorful bracelets crafted from authentic sailing rope that are quickly becoming the “it” accessory in the City-by-the-Sea (but they are!). Founder Dave Norton officially launched the line last August to fête his life-long love of sailing. “I grew up cruising on board my family’s Pearson 36 and still actively race and cruise throughout the year,” he says. “Lemon & Line is a subtle way to share that passion with those around us.”
Dave explains the name Lemon & Line was slurred out over a ration of Dark & Stormies one summer night. “The details are a bit foggy, but the name certainly stuck,” he concedes. Since the launch he’s added Newport, Nantucket, Vineyard and Limited Edition collections, and customizes in campus colors. The reaction to Lemon & Line, which he describes as “subtle nautical,” has exceeded expectations. “Way beyond anything I could have ever expected really. People are very excited to see something new and authentic.”
Lemon & Line is available in Newport at Island Outfitters, so you should pop down to check ‘em out, but right now, Dave and the crew is thrilled to host a Lemon & Line giveaway for 3 lucky Newport Stylephile readers. Here’s how to enter:
1. Subscribe to Newport Stylephile (Enter email in the box on the right. Your email will never be shared or sold.)
2. Like Lemon & Line on Facebook
3. Leave a comment below confirming you’ve completed steps 1 and 2, and mention your favorite bracelet color combination
